Quite often, when street parking, some twat will try to park too close and scratch the rear bumper or just be a super twat and park so close I cannot manoeuvre out of my parking space.

So I decided the easiest fix for that will be to install a  tow bar on the back and anyone who wants to fight with it are free to do so.

Also, the tow bar is useful for towing stuff like our bike rack.

However, in Spain, its complicated to add an aftermarket tow bar. Customisations are heavily regulated and if the item did not come as standard you have some hoops to jump through.

STEP 1: In order to install the towbar, you have to find a reputable installer who can provide you with an installation certificate and installation instructions and specs of the tow bar as well as a conformity certificate from the manufacturer.

STEP 2: Then you have to take those certificates to a certified lab (this can be done online) along with photos of the installation, measurements etc and they will produce a special certificate.

STEP 3: Then you take all those documents, in person, to the ITV (the national vehicle inspectorate) and they will inspect the documentation and the works completed and then certify that your car is roadworthy.

Yes, its a bit of a job.
